What is choosing a captioning company?
Choosing a captioning company is the comparison a buyer makes between caption suppliers before handing over a library of video. The work goes to captioners who do this particular job every day, not to a general pool, and each file is checked against the source by a second reviewer before it is sent. This site is built around caption files built to the standard the platform or the regulator requires.
Who typically orders choosing a captioning company?
In practice: procurement leads, accessibility officers and media managers running a supplier selection. The common thread is that the finished file leaves their hands and is relied on by someone else, so it is checked against the source before delivery and anything uncertain is marked. Most of the work here is for teams with an accessibility requirement to meet, not simply a preference.
Can you handle urgent choosing a captioning company?
You are given a date, not a range: rush delivery within 2 to 24 hours where it is urgent, and a firm delivery time in the quote where it is not. Timing is set by hand against the audio, so the schedule follows the real runtime of the video and not an estimate. Choosing a captioning company is scheduled against the people who actually do this work, not against a general pool.
How accurate is your choosing a captioning company?
The standard is 99+%, reached by doing the job twice: one person produces the file, and a second checks it before release. What gets checked on choosing a captioning company is the detail a viewer would otherwise have to verify alone: names, figures, terms and anything the source left ambiguous.
How do you protect choosing a captioning company files?
It is handled by restricting access, not by promising discretion. Choosing a captioning company often involves material people would not want circulated, so the file is closed to everyone except the pair working on it. Everyone on the job is under NDA, transfer is encrypted, and your own confidentiality agreement is signed before work starts if you have one.
What formats do you deliver?
SRT, VTT, SCC, STL or a burned-in version, built to the specification of the platform you publish on. One source file can produce several formats in the same order. Caption files are delivered to the standard of the platform you publish on, whether that is SRT, VTT, SCC or STL. The format for choosing a captioning company is agreed at order stage, so the first delivery is the one you can file, send on or publish.
How does choosing a captioning company work in practice?
The practical part is this: ask who actually types the captions, since many suppliers resell a machine pass with a light human edit. It is agreed with you before anyone starts, because the alternative is a first delivery built on a guess and a second round of work to undo it. Reading speed, line length and line breaks are set to the target standard before the first file is timed.
Is there anything else I should ask for?
A paid sample on your own worst-sounding file tells you more than a reference list. Nothing there is an upgrade, and work that falls outside the agreed choosing a captioning company brief is priced separately and only once you have agreed to it. The same timed file can produce a burned-in version and a sidecar caption file in one order.
Do you handle foreign-language material?
Yes. Choosing a captioning company is available in 100+ languages, with every file going to a native speaker of the target language and a reviewer who also reads it. A translated caption track is timed separately, because reading speed differs between languages. Where a language is rare, availability is checked before the quote.
What does choosing a captioning company cost?
Captioning is quoted per minute of runtime, with volume pricing once a project passes an agreed size. The quote for choosing a captioning company is worked out from the runtime, whether the audio has to be timed from scratch and the caption standard you publish to. Choosing a captioning company is quoted per job rather than on a published unit rate, because the cost follows what you need done. Send the material and the figure comes back within minutes.
