Closed Captioning Services Chicago

Yes. Closed captioning is ordered here exactly as it is anywhere else - upload the material, approve the written quote, receive the finished work by email. There is no office in Chicago to visit, no appointment to book and no premium for being in Illinois.

The regular sources of closed captioning work here are the Circuit Court of Cook County and the firms that file there; trading, insurance and logistics companies; and hospitals, universities and media production. Each has its own formatting expectations, and those are agreed at quoting stage, which is what stops a first delivery coming back for rework.

SRT, VTT, SCC, STL or a burned-in version, built to the specification of the platform you publish on. One source file can produce several formats in the same order. Everything is returned by email in the format you asked for, which is why clients in Chicago never need to collect anything. Caption files are delivered to the standard of the platform you publish on, whether that is SRT, VTT, SCC or STL.

Most of it is tied to trading, insurance and logistics companies. Alongside that comes material from the Circuit Court of Cook County and the firms that file there. Local names, street names and institution names are checked against the source, because a local name got wrong is the first thing an audience in Chicago notices. Reading speed, line length and line breaks are set to the target standard before the first file is timed.

Yes. The closed captioning requests that come up most around Chicago are Spanish, Polish, Chinese, Arabic and Tagalog, and 100+ other languages are available. Every file goes to a native speaker of the language, and material that switches language partway through is kept as it was.

No visit is needed. Files are uploaded through the site, emailed, or shared from cloud storage, and the finished closed captioning comes back the same way, which is why clients well outside Chicago use the service on the same terms. The one exception is material that exists only on tape, disc or a memory card, and collection can be arranged for that.

Captioning is quoted per minute of runtime. What moves the figure is the runtime, whether the audio has to be timed from scratch and the caption standard you publish to, so the quote is built from your actual files and not from a rate card. Being in Chicago changes nothing about the rate, because the same published prices apply across Illinois and everywhere else. You get an exact total in writing before anything starts.

The delivery date is agreed before work starts, and rush delivery within 2 to 24 hours covers anything urgent. Material sent at the end of your working day is in progress overnight. Timing is set by hand against the audio, so the schedule follows the real runtime of the video and not an estimate. Because orders from Chicago are handled online, nothing waits on a courier, an appointment or office hours.

The 99+% accuracy standard applies to every file, and it holds because each caption file is produced by a person and then played back against the picture by a second reviewer. Local detail is where a distant supplier slips - street names in Chicago, the institutions around it, the bodies people file with across Illinois - so those are checked against the source. Every file is played back on screen before release, because a caption that reads correctly can still land on the wrong shot. Anything genuinely unclear is flagged for you, never guessed at.

It is handled by restricting access, not by promising discretion. Unreleased video is routine here, so review links are restricted and nothing is held longer than the project needs. A lot of what arrives from Chicago comes from trading, insurance and logistics companies, where the material is sensitive, so restricted access is the default. Everyone on the job is under NDA, transfer is encrypted, and your own confidentiality agreement is signed before work starts if you have one.
